Shirley Carnt has lived on the Norfolk coast in England for most of her life. One of Norfolk’s best-known landscape painters, she portrays the ever-changing light and big open skies of the marsh, sea and coastline that she knows so well.
Her love of the outdoors and understanding of nature shows through in her work, not least in the atmospheric paintings, often depicting birds and animals, of the beautiful and still virtually unspoilt coastline and countryside of East Anglia.
Shirley also travels widely – whether to Outer-Mongolia or Alaska, Scotland or Patagonia – always with a sketch book full of drawing and watercolours which becomes a valuable reference when she returns to her studio.
A selection of her work currently available is shown on
the paintings and galleries page.
Shirley has an annual exhibition in Brancaster Staithe Village Hall, Brancaster Staithe, Nr. King's Lynn, Norfolk PE31 8BU
